Dr. Sara Schafrann Diamond is a New York State Licensed Clinical and School Psychologist. She earned her doctorate from the School-Clinical Child Psy.D. program at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She received her Bachelor of Arts and graduated with honors from the University of Michigan where she majored in Psychology and minored in Community Action and Social Change through the School of Social Work.
Dr. Diamond has worked in a range of clinical and educational settings, including therapeutic schools for students with developmental delays and learning disabilities, hospitals and outpatient settings. Dr. Diamond completed American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical training at Astor Services for Children and Families and her post-doctoral training at Therapy West/Academics West. She has expertise in providing therapy with and assessment to children, adolescents, and families coping with both externalizing and internalizing behaviors.
Dr. Diamond utilizes an integrative approach, which incorporates cognitive-behavioral, behavioral and play therapies. She enjoys working with both individuals and groups to build important coping strategies and social skills. Currently, Dr. Diamond is also a school psychologist at a private special education program in New York City, which offers her a unique perspective of what children and families are faced with each day. Recognizing the importance of partnering with teachers and outside service providers, collaboration is essential to Dr. Diamond’s therapeutic work.
She has received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Dr. Diamond is also skilled in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Parent Management Training (PMT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to treat aggressive, defiant and oppositional behavior. Dr. Diamond’s goal is to help you feel heard, supported and prepared to navigate life’s difficult moments. She looks forward to getting to know you and your family.
