Services

Diagnostic Assessment

  • Meet with clients for 90 minutes to identify presenting problems, background history and related strengths.

Treatment Planning

  • Collaborate with clients to identify both short-term and long-term therapy goals for weekly treatment sessions.
  • Utilize monthly assessments to monitor client progress and adjust treatment as needed.

Individual Therapy with Children and Adolescents

  • Employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as behavioral and play therapies to increase insight, identity connections between thoughts and behavior and develop appropriate coping skills.

Social Skills Training

  • Promote developing and maintaining relationships with others, to help improve self-esteem, social functioning and academic progress.
  • Incorporate opportunities for learning, modeling and practicing skills related to perspective-taking, being a part of a group, problem-solving, effective verbal and nonverbal communication and collaborative play.

Behavioral Skills Training/Parent Management Training

  • Help children regulate aggressive and defiant behavior or emotional distress, which can be exhausting and overwhelming for the whole family.
  • Work with parents to unlock strategies to manage their own emotions and respond to their children’s behavior, leading to increased connection, emotional regulation and compliance.
  • Areas of focus include limit setting, in-vivo coaching, modeling and role play related to the challenging behavior.
  • Common target areas include compliance related to routines, chores and homework as well as toilet training, sibling conflict and tantrums.
  • Meet families where they feel most comfortable-- whether that is in their home, at her office, in school or in the community.

Consultation

  • Conduct detailed observations within independent, public or private schools and homes.
  • Observe students for at least 45 minutes to help understand their academic and social functioning, along with other behaviors such as aggression and avoidance to shape a comprehensive review.
  • Provide related recommendations and follow-up care (i.e. consultation with staff, development of behavior intervention plans, therapy, parent coaching, referrals to other service providers).

Play Assessment and Therapy

  • Engage children to express themselves and connect to the world through play, to help recognize and discover what children may be experiencing.
  • Support children in processing their worries and challenges through play.

Individualized Behavioral Support

  • Create Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to target and increase the frequency of desired behavior.
  • Develop customizable social stories and visual schedules to help children and families prepare for transitions and develop increased independence in a friendly, approachable way.

To initiate treatment, please contact Dr. Diamond to schedule a diagnostic intake assessment. The first appointment is an extended meeting (approximately 75-90 minutes) for assessment and to discuss treatment planning. Subsequent sessions will be 45 minutes.
